Job summary

Fred Meyer is seeking a security-minded professional to support loss prevention, safety, and compliance across store operations. The role focuses on preventing and reducing loss due to bad debt, cash over/short, and civil liabilities while upholding core company values.

Based in the Portland, Oregon area, this position contributes to protecting customers and associates, working within the Kroger family of companies to deliver strong asset protection and excellent service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age (or 21 in Alaska) and able to pass a drug test.
• Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures and organizational structure.
• Retail security experience and ability to pass a background check.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with high accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Detect, deter and/or detain external theft suspects.
• Monitor large shrink areas in stores to minimize loss.
• Report incidents to the asset protection manager and document findings.
• Provide credible court testimony when required.
• Support customer and associate relations through communication and training.

Prevent and reduce loss due to bad debt, cash over/short and civil liabilities; reduce shrink and improve margins. Fred Meyer also requires that all associates perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws. • Bachelors degree in criminal justice

• Law enforcement experience
• Ability to continue education
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or a combination of relevant education and experience
• Minimum 18 years of age/21 years of age in Alaska
• Ability to pass a drug test
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
• Ability to organize/prioritize tasks/projects
• Familiarity with loss prevention terms and processes
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills
