Job summary

Scheels is seeking an experienced Asset Protection Leader in Grand Forks, ND to develop and guide the Asset Protection Team, ensuring a safe and welcoming store environment. You will conduct audits, manage surveillance, and protect assets while collaborating with leadership to enforce policies.

The role requires strong communication, integrity, and the ability to work nights and weekends to meet business needs. Prior loss prevention experience and leadership are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred or 2-3 years of experience.
  • Experience leading associates at a high level.
  • Prior Loss Prevention experience (2-3 years) and Scheels leadership preferred.
  • Proven track record of strong communication and organization skills.
  • CPR and OC (pepper spray) foam deployment certification or willingness to become certified.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maximize the effectiveness of the Asset Protection Team through training per Scheels' expectations and policies.
  • Elevate customer experience by maintaining a highly visible appearance to create a welcoming and safe environment for customers and associates.
  • Complete routine audits including commission, employee purchase, and time clock reports; prepare detailed, accurate reports promptly.
  • Conduct safety walks to identify, solve, and raise awareness for Scheels staff.
  • Protect company assets including associates, customers, merchandise, and store structure.
  • Conduct surveillance using equipment throughout the store.
  • Log and secure relevant evidence per Scheels procedures with confidentiality.
  • Assist in investigating irregularities in firearms for compliance or process concerns.
  • Collaborate with Leadership to monitor store compliance with Scheels' policies.
  • Take appropriate action to prevent theft and apprehend individuals when prevention is not effective.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or early mornings as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maximize the effectiveness of the Asset Protection Team through continuous training per Scheels' expectations and policies
  • Elevate the customer experience by maintaining a highly visible appearance to create a welcoming and safe environment for customers and associates
  • Complete routine audits that include commission, employee purchase, and time clock expectations, and prepare detailed and accurate reports promptly
  • Conduct safety walks per a routine to identify, solve, follow up, and raise awareness for all Scheels staff
  • Protect company assets, including associates, customers, merchandise, and the physical structure of the store
  • Conduct surveillance visually and/or by effectively utilizing surveillance equipment throughout the store
  • Properly obtain, store, and log all relevant evidence per Scheels procedures, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Assist in investigating irregularities in Firearms regarding compliance or process concerns.
  • Collaborate with Leadership to monitor store compliance per Scheels' policies and expectations
  • Take appropriate action per Scheels' standards and expectations to prevent theft, apprehending individuals engaged in theft when prevention is not effective
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or early morning hours based on business needs

Education & Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Occupational Safety, or a related field preferred and/or 2-3 years of experience
  • Experience in leading associates at a high level
  • Preference for candidates with prior Loss prevention (2-3 years) and/or Scheels leadership experience
  • Proven track record of strong communication and organization skills
  • Currently certified or willing to become certified in CPR and OC (Oleoresin Capsicum, aka pepper spray) foam deployment

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
