Job Summary:

We are seeking a Vice President for our Valuations Team within J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Global Alternatives Group. Reporting to the Head of Valuations for Global Alternatives, the new team member will be responsible for reviewing private market investment valuations, including equity and debt valuations of investments in JPMAM’s U.S. Real Estate, Private Credit, and Private Capital funds and accounts, with potential expansion into international real estate, infrastructure, and transportation in the future. The role promotes ongoing contact with the Valuations Team, Head of Valuations, external valuers, asset managers, analysts/associates, and investment team members.

Job responsibilities:

  1. Understanding appraisal approaches: Review of income, sales comparable/market, and cost approaches; commenting on reasonableness; identifying errors; discussing concerns with asset management; and communicating effectively with appraisers to resolve valuation issues within reporting timeframes.
  2. Audit Support: Responding to auditors’ questions and providing additional valuation information as needed.
  3. Platform-wide initiatives: Participating in training, process, and technology enhancements to benefit the broader platform.
  4. Communication: Informing management of valuation process issues and proposing solutions.
  5. Investment Committee Reviews: Attending and reviewing presentations for new acquisitions, identifying appraisal risks, and assessing pricing consistency.
  6. Financial Modeling: Proficiency in Argus Enterprise and Excel for valuation modeling.
  7. Presentation Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to present and defend findings to stakeholders, including portfolio managers, auditors, service providers, and investors.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Strong understanding of alternative asset classes, including debt funds and private company investments, with well-developed analytical skills and intellectual curiosity.
  • Abstract reasoning, high organization, multitasking ability, and self-starting qualities.
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in institutional private market asset valuations.
