Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking a Management Analyst II to provide analytical and administrative support for financial, operational, and asset-management functions in the Transportation & Drainage Operations division.

The role will help monitor, evaluate, and improve financial, inventory, and fixed-asset processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the department, including audits, reporting, and training activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance or a field directly related to the job.
• Two years of professional experience in accounting, budget analysis, finance, public administration or a field directly related to the job.
• Substitutions: four years of related experience may substitute for education; an Associate’s plus two years may substitute; Master’s may substitute for two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides analytical and administrative support for financial, operational, and asset-management functions.
• Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, operational, and management reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Assists in preparing and evaluating financial and management reports; identifies tools and solutions to enhance efficiency.
• Conducts audits and needs assessments to document, evaluate, and strengthen financial procedures and compliance.
• Develops training materials and user documentation for financial and asset-related systems; provides user training and ongoing support.
• Supports the annual physical inventory process by verifying asset locations and preparing required reports.
• Maintains organized records for fixed-asset transactions and inventory activities.
