Vast is seeking an Assembly Test Specialist of Components and Subassemblies who oversees the development and production process of flight components, subassemblies, and ground-side systems. They coordinate with development and production teams, ensure efficient production, and implement quality control measures. The incumbent will collaborate with other departments to align the production process with company goals and customer expectations, develop continuous improvement strategies, and identify inefficiencies to optimize production. They also help oversee inventory management, logistics, and supply chain operations for their areas.

This is a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and strategize the Company’s goals through organization and forethought in the Assembly Test domain.
  • Ensure compliance with quality criteria to meet product requirements.
  • Mitigate threats that may arise during assembly processes and lead by example.
  • Oversee team activities, establish goals, communicate them to team members, and assess progress.
  • Update upper-level stakeholders on progress to ensure all parties understand what was done and why.
  • Implement design-for-manufacturing methodologies, develop manufacturing strategies, and establish production site quality system requirements.
  • Manage production requirements, ensure safety and quality controls, and lead teams to achieve organizational change.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to learn new skills, adapt to new environments, and work with others.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical/structural/fluid/electrical systems
  • 5+ years of experience performing electronic testing and inspection using portable measuring devices
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Associate degree, especially in a technical field
  • Experience in research and development or another fast-paced technical environment
  • Problem-solving ability with minimal supervision on tight schedules
  • Ability to rapidly adapt to new roles, responsibilities, and skills in a high-paced environment
  • Experience with component and system-level troubleshooting and determining corrective actions
  • Experience with propulsion, thermal, electrical and/or structural systems evaluation and testing
  • Experience with thermal vacuum, vibration, and shock test equipment
  • Understanding of mechanical GD&T and/or electrical schematics
  • Experience with electrical tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering irons, crimps, strippers, etc.)
  • Familiarity with harness build and termination techniques for extreme environments
  • Experience building and activating data and control systems
  • Experience with analog and digital instrumentation (load cells, pressure transducers, strain gauges, RTDs, encoders, LVDTs, accelerometers, IMUs)
  • Knowledge/experience with high voltage systems (AC and DC)
  • Comfortable with fabrication equipment (mill, lathe, drill press)
  • Experience handling cryogenic fluids and gas systems
  • Experience with test operations procedures including hydraulic load control, hydro/pneumatic pressure control, automation programming, and safe handling of flight parts
  • Proficiency with standard computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CAD software (NX, TeamCenter) and programming (Python, C++)
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends to support critical mission milestones
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
Pay Range
  • Assembly Test Specialist I of Components and Subassemblies: $40.00 - $55.00

Salary Range: California

$40 - $55 USD

Base salary will vary based on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand.
