Job summary

GE HealthCare in Wisconsin seeks an hourly Assembly/Test Technician to assemble, inspect, and test mechanical and electrical subsystems from written or verbal instructions. You will perform fitting, aligning, and secondary machining as needed to meet quality standards.

The role requires reading mechanical and electrical drawings, using calipers and micrometers, and applying basic AC/DC theory. Candidates should be able to lift parts, stand for long periods, and work across 1st, 2nd, or 3rd

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings.
  • Basic math including decimals and fractions.
  • Use of standard measurement tools for accurate assemblies.
  • Ability to assemble complex parts from drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC theory applicable to instrumentation.
  • Color and depth perception as required by tests.
  • Physical stamina for standing and lifting parts.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, inspect, and test mechanical and electrical assemblies from instructions.
  • Perform fitting, aligning and secondary machining as needed.
  • Conduct specified inspections and retest assemblies to meet quality.
  • Disassemble, repair, upgrade, and retest returned goods as directed.
  • Support miscellaneous tasks to maintain production efficiency.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities: JOB TYPE: HOURLY HQ ASSEMBLY/TEST H13110 Function: Manufacturing Family: Shop Operations Corporate Band: HRLY Labor Grade: LG10 Union: Lodge 1916 Possible Shifts: 1st, 2nd or 3rd Possible Locations: Waukesha, WI; Milwaukee, WI; Oak Creek, WI

  • Assemble, inspect, and perform appropriate tests on mechanical and electrical assemblies and subsystems from written or verbal instructions.
  • Perform fitting, aligning and secondary machining where necessary.
  • Perform specified inspection and test functions and evaluate/repair assemblies as required to meet quality/performance requirements.
  • Per written or verbal instructions, disassemble, repair, upgrade, and retest finished goods returned from the manufacturing floor or stock.
  • Perform work of a miscellaneous nature whenever it is conducive to efficient operation and/or maintaining production.
Required Qualifications
  • Have demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and understand verbal and written instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using decimals and fractions.
  • Have demonstrated ability to use standard mechanical measuring devices such as scales, calipers, combination square, height gauges, micrometers, etc.
  • Have demonstrated ability to make complex assemblies from instructions, drawings and schematics utilizing solder equipment, standard and special tools, and small power equipment.
  • Have demonstrated working knowledge of AC/DC theory at the level of application necessary to set-up and operate electrical/electronic instrumentation as might be acquired through basic electrical/electronic courses.
  • Have passed color perception test and depth perception test administered by the GE Healthcare Medical Center.
  • Able to discriminate visually to perform various checks.
  • Able to discriminate auditorially to perform noise checks.
  • Bending motions from waist required.
  • Able to handle/lift various parts/assemblies.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist motion required.
  • Extended period of standing/sitting.
