Assembly Technician - 3rd Shift Production

Full Time – Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

Salary: $23.00 – $29.00 per hour

Schedule: 4/10 work schedule Monday – Thursday, start at 8:00 pm (15% shift premium). Third shift only.

Reports To: Team Leader

Position Summary

Complete all operational processes to cut, grind, fit and finish ablative material to proper dimensions per quality specifications.

Accountabilities

Responsible for producing conforming components that meet applicable blueprint or other process router requirements. Follow SOPs and WIs and maintain a safe, clean, organized work area.

Duties
  • Perform a variety of tasks in a production assembly environment based on specific training instructions.
  • Cross‑train on different stations for maximum flexibility and productivity.
  • Read drawings and perform layout, fabrication, and assembly steps in proper order.
  • Use table saw, router table, and handheld grinders properly.
  • Perform proper cutting, grinding, and fitting practices.
  • Perform basic shop math to ensure correct measurements.
  • Apply bonding agent to metal parts.
  • Visually and tactilely inspect surfaces for finish requirements.
  • Use tape measure, feeler gauge, depth gauge, and calipers for measurement.
  • Use basic inspection measurement methods on finished workpieces.
  • Record dimension measurements in Inspection Data Checklist (IDC).
  • Perform paint prep masking/unmasking tasks.
  • Operate computer programs associated with tasks.
  • Communicate with co‑workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Clean work areas to 6S standards.
Job Qualification Requirements

Educational Experience – High school diploma or GED. Computer literacy required.

Experience – Previous related experience in skilled construction or carpentry is preferred.

Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor.
  • Exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Exert 10–25 pounds of force frequently.
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Wear full PPE (Tyvek suit, gloves, safety glasses).
  • Pass baseline respiratory testing to use an air‑supplied hood.
Certification Required

Be certified to operate a forklift and crane.

Visual Acuity

Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery.

Hearing Ability

Accommodations needed to communicate with employees.

Working Conditions
  • High noise levels from operating machines.
  • Physical hazards from moving equipment and production components.
  • Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
  • Skin exposure potential to irritants.
