Job summary

6AM City, LLC is seeking a CNC Lead Machinist in Cary, IL for 1st and 2nd shifts. This hands-on leadership role mentors CNC operators while performing setups, troubleshooting, and process improvements. Strong background in HAAS/Okuma/Doosan equipment and GD&T is required.

You will lead by example, ensure quality, and drive production goals across the machining department while working collaboratively with a skilled team.

Qualifications

• Extensive CNC machining experience.
• Strong setup experience on CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Experience with HAAS, Okuma, Doosan, or similar equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T.
• Experience holding tolerances as tight as .001'.
• G-code editing experience.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience supporting or training machinists preferred.

Responsibilities

A growing precision manufacturer in Cary, IL is hiring CNC Lead Machinists for both 1st and 2nd Shift operations.

This is a working lead position for an experienced machinist who enjoys mentoring others while remaining hands‑on with setups, production, troubleshooting, and process improvement.

What You'll Do

• Perform machine setups and changeovers
• Run CNC production equipment
• Support and train CNC operators
• Assist with troubleshooting machining and quality issues
• Coordinate workflow within the machining department
• Ensure production goals and quality standards are achieved

This is NOT a disciplinary management role. The CNC Lead works alongside the team and serves as a technical resource and mentor.

Available Shifts

1st Shift

Monday - Thursday: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

2nd Shift

Monday - Thursday: 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM

Friday overtime as needed

Compensation

Up to $36/hour depending on experience
