Job summary

Magn a Exteriors is seeking a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer in New York to drive lean initiatives, design efficient cell layouts, and support new program launches. The role involves DFMA collaboration with engineering, creating work instructions, FMEAs, and control plans while tracking KPI performance.

You will also develop Poka-Yoke solutions to prevent errors and improve process reliability. The position requires a relevant engineering degree, familiarity with Lean and ergonomics, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, synchronous manufacturing, and ergonomics.

Responsibilities

• Continuously improve manufacturing processes using Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance labor efficiency, productivity, and quality.
• Support new program launches by developing process flows, cell layouts, component flow plans, cycle-time estimates, and labor requirements, while tracking builds through pre-SOP activities.
• Collaborate with APQP teams and Engineering on new program launches and component changes, implementing DFMA strategies.
• Assist in developing work instructions, Process FMEAs, and Control Plans related to new processes and process changes.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional team activities focused on maintaining and continuously improving departmental KPIs.
• Monitor departmental performance objectives and track continuous improvement metrics within CI teams.
• Support investigation of customer and internal quality concerns and assist in corrective action plans.
• Communicate process changes and provide training to Quality Technicians, Team Leaders, and team members.
• Develop and implement error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) solutions to prevent assembly errors and improve process reliability.
• Research and evaluate new manufacturing technologies and benchmark Magna divisions to determine applicability.
• Participate as a member of the Ergonomics Committee to improve workplace safety and efficiency.
• Serve as a Lean Thinker Champion by leading a designated production area in the Lean Thinker program.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Controls teams to identify and implement required changes.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll work directly with the Assembly team to keep our processes running smoothly by:

• Continuously improve manufacturing processes using Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance labor efficiency, productivity, and quality.
• Support new program launches by developing process flows, cell layouts, component flow plans, cycle-time estimates, and labor requirements, while tracking builds through pre-SOP activities.
• Collaborate with APQP teams and Engineering on new program launches and component changes, implementing Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) strategies.
• Assist in developing work instructions, Process FMEAs, and Control Plans related to new processes and process changes.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional team activities focused on maintaining and continuously improving departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Monitor departmental performance objectives and track continuous improvement metrics within CI teams.
• Support the investigation of customer and internal quality concerns and assist in developing and implementing corrective action plans to improve products and processes.

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for someone who has:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, synchronous manufacturing, and ergonomics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and AutoCAD required.
  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as part of a team.
• Automotive manufacturing experience is a bonus!
