Job summary

Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc. is seeking an Assembly Lead to support the Assembly Supervisor on the 2nd shift (2pm-10pm, Mon-Fri). You’ll guide assemblers, prepare work, coordinate with material handling, and ensure orders are ready for assembly.

The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and teamwork in a manufacturing environment. You will mentor staff, manage quality checks, and help optimize schedules while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to complete dimensional measuring and quickly learn precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to perform simple math and measurements.
  • Ability to maintain a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, or reaching above the shoulders.
  • Ability to understand/apply knowledge of codes and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Supervisor in directing and assisting in the work activities of assemblers.
  • Prepare work by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Coordinate orders with material handling and work with Production Control to assure orders are ready for assembly.
  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verify specifications by measuring completed component.
  • Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Provide input on schedule to ensure maximum efficiency and on time delivery.
  • Keep informed of any changes and new procedures throughout the day to stay on schedule.
  • Keep equipment operational by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain supplies inventory and place/expedite orders as needed.
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms.

Overview

Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, the Assembly Lead is primarily responsible for assisting the Supervisor in overseeing the Assembly Line. This person may perform all aspects of the Assembly Line such as assembling parts, as well as give instruction to the assemblers assigned to the lines. This role is responsible for acting as a good role model for the rest of the department and for keeping the department organized and clean.

2nd Shift Hours (2pm - 10pm, Monday - Friday)

  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, or reaching above the shoulders is required.
  • Frequent use of hands and wrists on both large and small items: e.g., screws, bolts and nuts to service the molds.
  • Ability to understand/apply knowledge of “G” and “M” codes and have applicable computer skills.
  • Ability to focus and work at a continuous pace for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous experience leading employees.
  • Previous experience working within a highly technical environment with light electical assembly and/or heavy equipment assembly preferred.
  • Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment preferred.

Equipment Operated:

  • Measurement devices and various other hand tools.
