The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks an Assembly Hall Attendant to provide operational and event support at the Krannert Center by coordinating facility setup, breakdown, and day-of event logistics.

This 100% full-time Civil Service role pays $23.47/hour and includes benefits. Duties cover housekeeping, cleaning, preparing spaces for performances, loading/unloading, and maintaining safe building operations on a Wednesday–Saturday schedule.

Job Summary

Provides operational and event support for the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts by coordinating facility setup, breakdown, and day-of event logistics to ensure safe, efficient, and successful public events.

Duties & Responsibilities

Performs housekeeping and specialized cleaning

• Remove trash throughout the building.
• Clean restrooms, dressing rooms, and waiting rooms and all theaters.
• Mop, scrub, sweep, wax, renovate, wash interior and exterior surfaces.

Event and Performance Preparation and Breakdown

• Unlock waiting rooms, classrooms and rehearsal rooms.
• Secure classrooms and rehearsal spaces after each event.
• Setup and tear down risers and platform devices after the event(s).
• Plans, coordinates, implements, and set up academic, catering and performance events.
• Assist with truck loading and unloading.

Maintenance

• Coordinate necessary maintenance of equipment and materials in an efficient and secure manner.
• Unlock and remove exterior fire blocks.
• Check exterior lighting and report findings of damage items.
• Monitor and track inventory.
• Remove and shovel snow during winter conditions.
• Provide the conversion of maintenance of facilities and equipment such as the CFR and power scrubber in a large multi-purpose building such as the Krannert Center.

• Ability and willingness to work varying and unusual work schedules.
• Current opening is for Wednesdays - Saturdays 4:00 PM-2:00 AM

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Ability to move 50 lbs.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 0500 - Assembly Hall Attendant position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The collective bargaining agreement sets the rate for this position at $23.47/hour.
