Job description

Position Summary: The Assembly Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the development, industrialization, and execution of assembly systems supporting ARaymond’s core product lines, including fluid handling systems, clips, routings, and trim components. This role ensures that assembly processes, from manual and semi-automated systems to advanced automated solutions (leak testing, vision inspection, joining technologies), are designed, validated, and deployed to deliver safe, cost-effective, and scalable manufacturing solutions aligned to ARaymond’s regional strategy. The position plays a critical role in connecting product design, manufacturing capability, and cost performance, ensuring strong alignment across Industrialization, Engineering, Operations, and Business Development.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain assembly manufacturing standards, best practices, design guidelines, and the Assembly Manufacturing Playbook to drive consistency and standardization across North American operations.
  • Drive manufacturing standardization across all North American facilities. (US,CA,MX)
  • Support new product development, quoting, and industrialization activities by defining manufacturing concepts, assembly processes, equipment, labor, tooling, and facility requirements while leading feasibility reviews and supporting successful program launches.
  • Participate in launch readiness reviews and ensure manufacturing risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Support successful SOP execution through stable process development.
  • Develop technical specifications for assembly equipment and automation systems.
  • Lead equipment sourcing, supplier selection, and technical evaluations.
  • Support capital appropriation requests and investment justification.
  • Manage assembly equipment implementation activities.
  • Evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies and automation opportunities.
  • Drive manufacturing excellence through productivity, throughput, utilization, OEE, and cost improvement initiatives by leading line optimization, debottlenecking, process improvements, automation projects, and best practice deployment.
  • Establish labor, machine, and cycle time standards to support accurate costing and quotation activities, provide manufacturing expertise during customer and internal technical reviews, and support strategic business growth initiatives through early manufacturing engagement.
  • Participate in customer and internal technical reviews as manufacturing expert.
  • Develop assembly capacity models, capability assessments, and expansion plans to ensure manufacturing resources, equipment, labor, and facilities support current and future business requirements.
  • Support S&OP processes through manufacturing capability assessments.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop assembly engineering talent, strengthen technical capabilities across the region, support succession planning, and foster cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Costing, and Commercial teams.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial)
  • 8+ years in manufacturing/assembly engineering
  • Demonstrated leadership in both program launches and leading cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated experience in PFMEA / Process Risk Analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in Control Plans & Process Documentation
  • Demonstrated experience in Assembly Line Design & Balancing such as Time studies, line balancing methods, work content analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in Lean Manufacturing Tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Standard work development, Waste identification (Muda)
  • Strong experience in fluid handling assembly systems, injection molded component assembly, and leak testing, vision systems, and joining processes, preferred.
  • Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing, preferred.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing plant environments on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment during program launches, including extended hours when required.
  • Frequent walking and standing on the production floor during equipment reviews, line audits, and launch support.
  • Ability to observe, evaluate, and support assembly system setup, installation, and debugging
  • Occasional need to bend, reach, or move around equipment and production lines
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally (tools, components, equipment parts)
  • Travel between sites and supplier locations 20–40%.
