Job summary

John Deere in Moline, IL is seeking an Assembly Engineer for the Cyliner Internal Platform. You will establish detailed assembly documentation, define layouts, and procure tools for various tasks in a normally onsite setting.

Responsibilities include investigating quality issues, implementing corrective actions, and driving safety, ergonomic, and productivity improvements through lean methodologies and automation knowledge. This onsite role requires flexibility and team collaboration.

Qualifications

Your Responsibilities

As an Assembly Engineer for John Deere Cyliner Internal Platform located in Moline, IL, you will:

• Establish and maintain detailed assembly documentation, define operations layouts, procure tools and fixtures for various assembly tasks.
• Define and investigate manufacturing quality issues, gather and analyze relevant data, and propose and implement solutions to those issues.
• Innovate and implement safety, ergonomic, quality and productivity improvement ideas.
• Apply electronic tools across a broad range of applications to evaluate new product designs, engineering changes, and proposed assembly sequence revisions.

What Skills You Need

• Knowledge and experience with assembly line design and balancing mixed-model assembly lines.
• Knowledge and experience in identifying and implementing mistake-proofing solutions to improve overall product quality.
• Ability to work well within a team environment and among different levels of the organization.
• Ability to work flexible hours, as needed to support the business.
• Ability to apply lean manufacturing concepts and tools to eliminate waste.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Knowledge of shop floor manufacturing and work measurement.
• Knowledge and application of quality tools (PFMEA, control plans, etc).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance, and facilities.
• Knowledge of PLC programming, automation systems, and manufacturing controls.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred) or other related experience in a technical discipline.
