Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Pontiac, IL is seeking an Assembly and Test Specialist to help improve process efficiency by assembling and testing component assemblies across manufacturing stages. This role focuses on hands-on work with fuel injectors, fuel pumps, exhaust systems, and PETU tanks.

You will use hand and pneumatic tools, operate test machines, and participate in routine repair and rework of parts while prioritizing safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience in a manufacturing or engine maintenance role.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions (schematics, standard work, blueprints).

About Large Power Systems Division (LPSD)

We design and manufacture the most comprehensive lineup of large diesel and natural gas engines in the industry, as well as engine components and powertrains.

Job Summary

As an Assembly and Test Specialist at Caterpillar Pontiac, you will continuously improve process efficiency by performing routine assembly and testing the assemblies of the component product. Day-to-day work may include performing routine assembly and testing of components through various stages of manufacturing.

What You Will Do (including But Not Limited To)

• Utilize hand and pneumatic tools to assemble, test, rework, and repair Fuel Injectors and Fuel Pumps.
• Utilize hand and pneumatic tools to assemble exhaust systems and PETU tanks with pumps, wiring harnesses, insulation, and other required components.
• Operate test machines.
• Disassemble and reassemble complex components to repair or replace damaged injector parts to transport prime product.

Minimum Requirements

• A minimum of 6 months of experience working in a manufacturing or engine maintenance role.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions (ex. Schematics, standard work, and/or blueprints).
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Additional Information

• 1st Shift Weekends: Saturday – Sunday 7:00AM – 3:00PM.
• 2nd Shift Weekends: Saturday – Sunday 3:00PM – 11:00PM.
• 3rd Shift Weekends: Friday – Saturday 11:00PM – 7:00AM.
• 16 hours per week guaranteed - additional hours may be available based on business needs.
• Starting pay is $23.22 per hour.
• $1.00 an hour night shift premium on 2nd and 3rd shifts.
• Positions start as part-time supplemental (16 or more hours per week with no holiday pay and limited benefits).
• Relocation assistance is not available.
