Job description

Reports to: Westfield Innovations Supervisor

Supervises: None

Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Work Schedule: 8 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday

Purpose of Position

The primary responsibility of the Assembly and Production Associate is to support daily shop production by building, assembling, and maintaining equipment while ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency in all work performed.

  • Perform hands‑on machine builds, assembly, and production tasks.

  • Identify and communicate any issues with materials, tools, or build processes.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Support team members as needed to maintain workflow and productivity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements
  • 1–3 years of manufacturing, fabrication, or equipment assembly experience preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to develop hands‑on skills.
  • Ability to read and follow build drawings, schematics, and instructions.
  • Familiarity with shop tools and equipment (or willingness to learn).
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, occasionally sit, and frequently move about the facility. The employee must lift and/or move parts and inventory, and seek assistance in lifting more than 50 pounds or use a forklift. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, soaps and/or chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
