Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. is hiring for an Assembler– Vert Line– 1st Shift in York, PA. You will perform a range of production assembly tasks to ensure quality and timely output in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires reading blueprints, using hand and power tools, and adhering to SOPs and JSAs. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and be capable of working overtime when needed.

Job description

Assembler– Vert Line– 1st Shift

Location: York, PA|Shift: 1st Shift|Pay: $24.12 - $28.49

Responsibilities
  • Perform a combination of production assembly tasks to ensure conformance to specifications and continuous production consistent with established standards.
  • Assemble parts to form complete units or subassemblies at a bench or conveyor line in an open‑air manufacturing environment.
  • May be assigned to work in any area of the facility as required, including final assembly, subassembly, and insulation.
  • Use hand tools, small power tools, and other special equipment following detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures (written and verbal) to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, engineering drawings, and shop orders to assemble final and subassembly products.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Take responsibility for own safety and the safety of others; understand proper processes/equipment, JSA, PPE usage, 5S, and all safety regulations in the facility.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions and comply with all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisors; perform first‑article inspection for conformance to specifications.
  • Build teamwork by working with other departments, shifts, and management to meet and exceed customer expectations; communicate regularly and effectively with co‑workers, utilities, coordinators, and management; report problems with safety, quality, processes, equipment, materials, and/or questionable conditions to the Department Supervisor.
  • Display professionalism in the workplace and perform duties during times of stress and pressure.
  • Manage time and deliver results; troubleshoot and provide solutions while understanding value‑add versus non‑value‑add activities and improving the ratio.
  • Show flexibility and availability to work overtime and/or move between shifts for training and/or coverage to support production as needed.
  • Train on and be expected to perform all assembly positions in all production areas and on all product varieties within the facility.
  • Demonstrate ability to use computer software such as Microsoft Office, MicrosoftExcel, MicrosoftWord, and ERP systems; look up production orders, key parts into inventory, and use the system as a tool to assist in production.
  • Perform other assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, communicate, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings in English.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Work in a noisy, dusty, industrial manufacturing environment exposed to non‑toxic fumes, chemicals, grease, and oils.
  • Operate machinery and moving parts; lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30lbs; occasionally lift up to 50lbs and frequently up to 40lbs.
  • Operate cranes, trucks, motor vehicles, ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Perform repetitive motions with fingers, hands, and wrists; bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, sit, climb, stretch as required.
  • Work in a non‑climate controlled environment and stand or walk for long periods on hard concrete surfaces.
  • Read, write, speak, and communicate in English.
  • Work more than 40 hours per week as needed.
