Job summary

KVH Industries in Bristol, RI, seeks an assembler to join our manufacturing team. You will read work orders, follow drawings, and assemble components into subassemblies and final products. The role requires careful manual dexterity and adherence to specifications.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Mount components on chassis and install assemblies in cases and cabinets.
  • Inspect and test parts for quality via go/no-go checks.
  • Prepare products for shipping and package accordingly.
  • Tend machines that form or wind component parts.
  • Adjust or trim materials to meet specifications.

Job description

Overview

Assembles electronic components, subassemblies, or products by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities
  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
  • Mounts assembled components, such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets, on chassis panel.
  • Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
  • Assembles and attaches hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs, and switches, to assemblies.
  • Tends machines that press, shape, or wind component parts.
  • Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
  • Performs online go-not-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
  • Inspects work done in the manufacturing process for quality standards.
  • Prepares product for shipping.
  • Assembles appropriate packing materials and packages product.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess the ability to:
  • Understand structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Talk to others to convey information effectively.
  • Listen by giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Use calibration software; personal computer with Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Have knowledge of:
  • Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance including hand trucks, hoists, insertion tools, power drills, screwdrivers, soldering irons, wire strippers, tweezers, utility knives, digital volumeters, wire cutters.
  • Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations you should possess: None required.
