Job summary

Janicki Industries is seeking an Assembler/Production Technician for the weekend day shift at our Layton, Utah facility. You will read blueprints, assemble aircraft structural parts, and perform high-tolerance checks to ensure fit and finish for aerospace and space exploration programs.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and about 3 years of complex assembly experience; familiarity with hand tools, measuring devices, and safety practices is essential.

Janicki is a private and family-owned business based in Washington State with a Layton, Utah, facility.The Layton Utah facility specializes in machining the largest most complex structures built from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. The parts produced are installed on today's most advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles. Janicki continues to lead the market with both innovations and abilities alike. There is a $3.00 shift differential for weekend grave shift.

The following essential job functions are performed as a Production Technician:

  • Reads, interprets, and follows pass downs, work orders, isometric drawings, blueprints, work instructions and other technical and non-technical documents
  • Assemble and fit aircraft structural parts and sub-assemblies
  • Perform test fit and gap checks with high tolerances
  • Perform structural adhesive bonding preparation per product specifications and compliance programs
  • Align, fit, assemble, connect, or install system components, using jigs, fixtures, measuring instruments, hand tools, or power tools
  • Adjust, repair, rework, or replace parts and assemblies
  • Layout and mark reference points
  • Receives and carries out directions from designated supervisor or lead
  • Participates in training, safety, and quality programs
  • Keeps work orders stamped, dated and organized
  • Vacuum bagging in order to prepare parts for drop tests, de-bulking fabric, and infusion
  • Performs tabbing operations to work order specifications
  • General sanding and finish work using grinders and sandpaper as needed
  • Identifies and obtains equipment, tools and materials needed to properly perform job function
  • Follows Janicki Industries Rules and Safety Practices and keep work areas clean and organized
  • Follows 5S, AS9100 and Nadcap standards and practices throughout all work performed
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly, FOD free condition
  • Packages and crates parts for shipment, including shrink wrapping
  • Has knowledge of and ability to use common hand tools for assembly components per verbal, written, and drawing requirements
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines
  • Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a)(3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED
  • Three years (3) of professional assembly experience in complex assembly and aircraft frame assembly/maintenance preferred
  • Prior experience in composite or fiberglass fabrication and repair is preferred
  • Must have the ability to read, understand and follow work orders, written procedures, blueprints, drawings, and other technical documents
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Wage range for this role is between$22 - $45 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
