Job summary

Colonial Group in Columbus, GA is seeking an assembler to perform repetitive work on an assembly line to produce building material components and millwork products. You will follow drawings and dimensions, and operate hand and power tools under general supervision.

Responsibilities include assembling wall panels, roof and floor components, doors, windows and related millwork; ensuring parts meet quality specs and tolerances. You may suggest process improvements to boost quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or at least 1 year of assembly experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use various hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow basic drawings/dimensions.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble building material components and millwork products on an assembly line.
  • Work with wall panels, roof and floor trusses, doors, windows, cabinets, counters, vanities, or closets.
  • Insert, position, clamp, splice and fit parts while using hand and power tools; ensure conformance with specifications.

Job description

Under general supervision, performs most or all repetitive jobs on an assembly or sub-assembly line to produce building material components or millwork products; ensures accurate conformance with dimension specifications and drawings.

  • Assembles building material components such as wall panels, roof and floor trusses and/or millwork products such as doors, windows, cabinets, counters, vanities, or closets. Processes include insertion or positioning of materials, clamping, splicing, fitting parts and use of both hand and power tools.
  • Ensures that sub-assembled and assembled items meet specific quality specifications; may propose process improvements in order to increase finished quality or efficiency of assembly processes.

Requirements: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or at least one year of component or millwork assembly experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble either building materials components or millwork products.
