Job summary

SPX Technologies, including SPX Cooling Technologies, is opening a new campus facility and seeking an Assembler I to assemble cooling towers and custom air handling units. You will follow engineering drawings, build orders, and specifications to complete mechanical and modular assembly tasks.

You will learn blueprint interpretation, assembly techniques, and system configurations while supporting safety, quality, and productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, adjust, and install prefabricated parts to manufacture air handling systems.
• Perform adjustments, settings, and fine-tuning operations for assembly.
• Interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, BOMs, and revisions accurately.
• Assemble and install mechanical, structural, and modular system components.
• Independently assemble complete custom air handling units from start to finish.
• Assist with assembly of fan sections, coil sections, dampers, and related components.
• Apply proper assembly, fastening, sealing, and fit-up techniques.
• Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, man lifts, and material handling equipment.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

The Assembler I position is responsible for independently assembling cooling towers or complete custom air handling systems including all mechanical and modular components, in accordance with engineering drawings, build orders, specifications, and quality standards. This position performs mechanical assembly, system integration, troubleshooting, fit-up, and final assembly activities associated with engineered-to-order air handling equipment.

The Assembler I is responsible for performing mechanical and modular assembly activities associated with cooling towers or custom air handling systems in accordance with work instructions, engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards under direct supervision and guidance.

The Assembler I is expected to develop foundational assembly skills, mechanical aptitude, product knowledge, and familiarity with assembly processes while contributing to safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance. The position performs standardized and repetitive assembly tasks while learning blueprint interpretation, assembly techniques, and system configurations associated with engineered-to-order air handling equipment. The Assembler I may work in multiple assembly stations as skill levels progress and may assume additional duties as assigned.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

• Assemble, adjust, and install prefabricated parts to manufacture air handling systems
• Perform the various adjustments, settings, and fine-tuning operations necessary for assembly
• Interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, bills of material, and engineering revisions accurately
• Assemble and install mechanical, structural, and modular system components including fan sections,coils, dampers, filter systems, access sections, electrical mounting components, and relatedassemblies
• Independently assemble complete custom air handling units from start to finish using engineeringdrawings, specifications, and build orders
• Assist with assembly of fan sections, coil sections, filter sections, dampers, and related air handlingsystem components
• Earn and apply proper assembly, fastening, sealing, gasketing, and fit-up techniques required forair handling equipment
• Utilize hand tools, pneumatic tools, measuring devices, and standard assembly equipment safely andeffectively operate overhead cranes, forklifts, man lifts, and material handling equipment safely and inaccordance with company procedures
• Perform basic troubleshooting and resolve simple assembly or fit-up issues while escalating morecomplex issues appropriately
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with company standards

• Ability to develop blueprint reading and assembly interpretation skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment
• Ability to adapt to changing production schedules and work assignments
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, attendance, and continuous improvement

Education & experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous manufacturing, mechanical assembly, construction, fabrication, or industrial experience preferred
• Basic mechanical aptitude required
• Previous experience using hand tools, pneumatic tools, or measuring devices preferred
• Ability to learn blueprint reading and assembly processes required
• Forklift, crane, or man lift certification preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment required
• Strong commitment to safety and quality standards required
