Job summary

Wabash is seeking an assembler to support our production floor with tasks spanning from installing subassemblies to mounting decals. You will work under supervision with training provided, focusing on safety, quality, and timely delivery.

No prior experience is required, but a willingness to learn and pass a pre-employment drug screen will help you start on the shop floor and participate in orientation and training programs.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Basic reading, writing, and verbal skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Own and help improve performance in safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Keep the work area free of potential hazards.
  • Measure, cut, and caulk materials.
  • Install rivets and assemble component parts.
  • Follow decal templates and blueprints.
  • Install signs, reflectors, fenders, mud flaps, and related parts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor, including support in other departments.
  • Wear approved PPE such as safety shoes, glasses, and hearing protection.
  • Complete duties in line with safety policies and practices.

Job description

Assemblers perform a variety of tasks at Wabash that vary from location to location. Assemblers are responsible for tasks such as installing subassemblies, assembling component parts, operating rivet punchers, and installing decals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:

  • Owning and helping improve our performance in Safety, Quality, and Delivery
  • Keeping the work area free of any potential work hazards
  • Measuring, cutting and caulking materials
  • Installing rivets
  • Installing truck bed flooring
  • Following decal templates & blueprints
  • Installing signs, reflectors, fenders, mud flaps, and other associated parts
  • Performing additional work assigned by the supervisor or coordinator, which may require the employee to assist in different departments)
  • Wearing approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses with side shields, respirators, hearing protection, etc.
  • Completing assigned duties in accordance with safety, policies, and practices, including your individual safety, as well as the safety of co-workers, and the safe use of equipment in the workplace

Experience and education are a plus; however, it's not required. Wabash provides training for all assembler positions. Upon receiving an offer letter from us, you'll undergo orientation and several days of training, preparing you for the production floor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, as well as moving mechanical parts and vibrations. Physical Demands

As an Assembler, you are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle, and operate tools or controls for the entirety of their shift. The employee needs full range of motion in arms and hands, all assemblers must be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees as well. Some assemblers also work in small spaces throughout their shift and frequently lift and/or carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.
