Job summary

Tedan Surgical Innovations in Houston, TX is seeking a Level 1 Assembler to perform manual and semi-automated assembly tasks in a regulated production environment for surgical devices.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow work instructions and documentation, and willingness to work in a cleanroom. Training will be provided, and the position reports to the Assembly Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0–1 year manufacturing/assembly experience; medical device experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity; willingness to work in a cleanroom.

Responsibilities

  • Performs easy assemblies including blade bending and blade assembly using hand tools and fixtures.
  • Deburrs, tumbles, polishes, and grinds components to meet surface finish and safety requirements.
  • Operates equipment for heat treating, bead blasting, and lasermarking of surgical components.
  • Conducts passivation and ultrasonic cleaning processes to ensure biocompatibility and cleanliness of parts.
  • Cleans and readies product for inventory storage e.g. clean per procedure, bag, inventory.
  • Follows detailed work instructions, SOPs, and visual aids to ensure accurate and consistent assembly.
  • Performs in-process visual inspections and follows inspection plans to ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Accurately completes production records, batch documentation, and inspection logs in a timely manner.
  • Uses small hand tools, torque drivers, and measurement devices as required for assembly and verification.
  • Maintains high standards of workmanship and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Follows all safety guidelines and regulatory requirements, including proper use of PPE and adherence to GMP.

Job Summary:

The Level 1 Assembler is an entry-level role responsible for performing manual and semi-automated assembly tasks in support of surgical device manufacturing. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to quality and safety standards, and the ability to follow work instructions and documentation in a regulated production environment. This position reports into the Assembly Supervisor.

Duties/Essential Job Functions:
  • Performs easy assemblies including blade bending and blade assembly using hand tools and fixtures.

Required Education/Licensing/Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0–1 year of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment; medical device experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical assembly and quality control principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Willingness to work in a cleanroom or controlled environment as required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift).
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle small parts and tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to inspect parts and read documentation.
  • Tolerance for repetitive tasks and working in a cleanroom or sterile environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, gowns, and safety glasses as required.
