Job summary

Caterpillar in San Diego is seeking an assembler to lay out, join, form and install prefabricated parts, performing checks before and after welding and brazing to build subassemblies. You will work from written and verbal instructions to assemble complex components and ensure precise fit and finish.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and willingness to work any shift; hands-on experience with hand and power tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, assemble and install prefabricated parts to build subassemblies and assemblies.

• Prepare surfaces, clean, sand and mask parts prior to assembly.
• Identify materials and parts and ensure correct labeling and handling.
• Coordinate shipping and receiving of components to customers and suppliers.

Load braze alloys; make and install core; and deburr such items as machined parts. **What You Will Do:*** Work from written and verbal instructions to lay out, assemble and install prefabricated sheet, tubular, machined, mechanical, and formed parts to build up subassemblies and assemblies* Prepare mixtures of braze alloys and adhesives and apply to various assemblies prior to furnace brazing. Prepare and apply proper stop off* Hand finish machined and other parts and assemblies to close tolerances, involving varied contours, holes, radii, angles and flanges using pneumatic pencil, bench and angle grinders* Prepare surfaces of parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
