Job summary

KA Components is seeking a Truss Assembler for our production team. You will build wood roof and floor trusses according to engineered drawings and specs, ensuring accurate cuts, placements, and fastenings to meet quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include setting up jigs, selecting and aligning components, reading blueprints, operating saws and presses, and inspecting finished products for accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in truss manufacturing, carpentry, or construction preferred but not required; on-the-job training provided.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints, tape measures, and work orders.

Position Summary

The Truss Assembler builds wood roof and floor trusses according to engineered drawings, jigs, and specifications, ensuring components are accurately cut, positioned, and fastened to meet quality, safety, and production standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and adjust truss tables/jigs according to engineered truss drawings for each job.
  • Select, position, and align lumber components (chords, webs) per specifications.
  • Fasten truss members using connector plates, roller presses, or hydraulic presses.
  • Read and interpret truss design blueprints, cut lists, and work orders accurately.
  • Inspect completed trusses for dimensional accuracy, plate placement, and structural integrity.
  • Operate saws, presses, and other production equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Stack, band, and stage finished trusses for shipping or storage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, material defects, or safety concerns to the Production Supervisor.
  • Meet daily production and quality goals while working collaboratively as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior experience in truss manufacturing, carpentry, or general construction preferred but not required; on-the-job training provided.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints, tape measures, and work orders.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, measurement conversions).
  • Ability to work safely with power tools and pneumatic/hydraulic equipment.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work in a team-oriented production environment.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials weighing up to [50] lbs.; frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling; ability to work on your feet for the duration of a full shift in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.

Manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, sawdust, and seasonal temperature variation. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots) required at all times on the production floor.
