Job description

Why Mid-States

Mid-States Companies fabricates, assembles, and constructs equipment for grain handling, food processing, renewable energy, commercial building, and heavy industrial projects nationwide. We're growing fast, and we run on three things: ownership of your work and its quality, tenacity to solve problems and hit deadlines, and stewardship of our people, equipment, and reputation. If that sounds like how you operate and thrive, you'll fit right in.

We offer to pay 100% of your health, dental, and vision insurance premiums — not a contribution toward it, the whole thing. That's paired with 401(k) match, profit sharing, a boot & clothing allowance, and paid parental leave, because we believe taking care of our people is how we build a team that lasts.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an entry-level Material Handling Assembler to join our Material Handling Assembly & Fabrication team in Nevada, Iowa. In this role, you'll fit, assemble, and — with qualifications — weld material handling equipment from shop drawings or verbal instructions, meeting deadlines and quality standards while working safely.

This is a great entry point into fabrication with real room to grow: as you build your skills, there's an opportunity to take on industrial coating and paint application work as well, expanding what you bring to the team and opening doors for future advancement.

What You'll Do

  • Comply with safety policies, standards, and company policies

  • Perform timely equipment inspections (crane, rigging, hoists, etc.)

  • Assemble, fabricate, and process sheet metal products from prints or verbal instruction

  • Perform general assembly of material handling equipment — reading prints and assembling per prints or verbal instruction (assembly, drilling, grinding, etc.)

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in communication, actions, and attitude

  • Effectively meet deadlines and the manufacturing schedule

  • Take part in shop cleanliness and organization

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of material and work-center flow

  • Clock in and out within the company ERP system

  • Perform quality checks throughout the production process

  • Apply practical shop mathematics

  • Load and unload product via overhead cranes

  • Assist with industrial coating and paint applications as time and abilities allow — a future growth opportunity within the role

What You Bring

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

  • Strong math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, geometry)

  • Working knowledge of hand tools and power tools

  • Strong mechanical knowledge

  • Familiarity with blueprint reading

  • Strong communication skills

  • 1+ years of fabrication experience

  • Detail-oriented and organized

Benefits

  • 100% company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Profit sharing

  • Boot & clothing allowance

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid time off

  • Life insurance, HSA available

  • Real advancement opportunity in a fast-growing, employee-focused company

Who Thrives Here

Ownership — you take personal accountability for world-class results

Stewardship — you take care of the people, equipment, and resources entrusted to you

Tenacity — you bring urgency, grit, and perseverance to everything you do

We've built this company without ever needing a layoff — and we plan to keep it that way. As we grow, we want our people growing with us: taking on new skills, more responsibility, and building a career here rather than just working a job. If you're looking for a team that will invest in you for the long haul, we'd love to talk.
