Job summary

Otis is hiring for an entry-level production assembler in Florence, SC. The 1st shift runs from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday with possible additional days as needed.

You will assemble mechanical components, crating and packing, and participate in Level I/II cross-training to promote continuous improvement. Ideal candidates have a HS Diploma or GED and basic math, reading, and writing skills, plus the ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with basic computer applications and product documents.
• Strong communication to drive improvements and cross-training.
• Ability to train others on product configurations.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components per work instructions.
• Use PIV for crating and packing requirements.

• Support shop floor management and 5S practices.
• Participate in on-the-job training and cross-training.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform assembly of mechanical components according to work instructions (MTS) and/or OFS.
• Utilize PIV for crating and packing requirements.
• Perform basic assembly rework on various assemblies when a defect is identified to resolve the underlying issue.
• Utilize shop floor management system to drive Tier 1, 5S, and cross-training principles to promote continuous improvement.
• Participate in required Level I OJT and cross-training on Level II assembly.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned by supervisor or manager.

Critical Skills

• Basic reading, writing and math ability.
• Basic computer applications and use of product documents to ensure product compliance.
• Effective communication skills to drive improvement in defect prevention and flexibility to foster learning all Level 1 products/stations and cell configurations.
• Ability to train others in product configurations to drive cross-training and knowledge transfer.
