Job summary

Preferred Materials is seeking an Asphalt Plant QC Technician Trainee to learn routine testing of Hot Mix Asphalt and assist in adjustments to plant settings to ensure compliance with specs. The role covers the South Florida region including Fort Myers, Naples, Nokomis, and requires some travel.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and basic math and reading skills, with willingness to work nights and weekends and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations (percentages, weights).
• Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
• Ability to read and use measuring devices.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license for territory of operation.

Responsibilities

• Performing daily QC testing on Hot Mix Asphalt as required by governing agencies and QC Manager.
• Collecting samples and performing data collection.
• Reporting results and assisting in mix design changes.
• Analyzing stockpiles of aggregates and RAP as needed.
