Job summary

Wiregrass Construction is seeking an Asphalt Plant Groundman to support maintenance and operations at the Foley, AL facility. You will perform routine service, lubrication, and minor repairs while assisting with loading and ground tasks in various weather conditions.

The role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work with plant equipment and loaders. High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Basic maintenance and service skills for asphalt plant operations.
• Welding and cutting torch skills are a plus.
• Ability to clean and maintain the plant and yard daily.
• Knowledge of lubrication techniques and oil levels.
• Experience operating an asphalt plant and loader preferred.
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Conduct maintenance and service on the asphalt plant.
• Grease and lubricate plant components to keep them efficient.
• Monitor and maintain proper oil levels in equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and servicing as needed.
• Operate the asphalt plant and loader safely and effectively.
• Perform ground maintenance to keep the plant and yard clean.
• Assist with shoveling, sweeping, steam cleaning, painting, and more.
• Complete other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job description

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our asphalt plant. Additionally, you will perform various manual tasks to support the efficient functioning of the plant. This position requires a strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in different weather conditions.

What you will do:

• Conduct regular maintenance and service on the asphalt plant to ensure its optimal performance.
• Grease and lubricate the plant components to keep them working efficiently.
• Monitor and maintain proper oil levels in the plant equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and servicing of the plant as needed.
• Operate the asphalt plant and loader effectively and safely.
• Perform ground maintenance tasks to keep the plant and yard clean and organized.
• Assist with shoveling, sweeping, steam cleaning, painting, tire work, mechanical tasks, lifting, pushing, pulling, and raking.
• Complete other duties assigned by the supervisor.

What you will need: (Minimum qualifications)

• Basic maintenance and service skills for asphalt plant operations.
• The ability to weld and use a cutting torch is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to clean and maintain the plant and yard on a daily basis.
• Knowledge of lubrication and greasing techniques to keep the plant in optimal condition.
• Familiarity with maintaining proper oil levels in plant equipment.Experience operating an asphalt plant and loader safely and efficiently.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work in wet and/or humid conditions, around moving mechanical parts, and in extreme cold and/or heat.
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
