Job summary

Pave America in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Asphalt Crew Laborer to assist in preparation, laying, and finishing of asphalt for roads, driveways, and parking areas. This is a physically demanding role requiring safety awareness and teamwork.

Responsibilities include surface prep, shoveling and leveling hot mix asphalt, operating small equipment, and aiding the paving crew to ensure smooth, consistent application and proper compaction. Weekend hours and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in asphalt paving or construction preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Knowledge of road and traffic regulations.
• Comfortable with physical labor and standing for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push/pull 50-pound loads.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and take direction.
• Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Reliable transportation.
• Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area.

• Maintain a clean and safe work zone by clearing debris and adhering to safety guidelines.
• Follow instructions from foremen and other supervisors.
• Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment at the job site.
• Perform daily equipment and tool checks and maintenance as needed.
• Directs traffic near, in, or around work zones.
• General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
