Job summary

The Christina School District is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional for the Early Learning Program (ELP). The position supports the Statewide Programs for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the classroom is located at the Charlton School Building (Caesar Rodney SD).

Responsibilities include assisting in instructional activities and promoting student engagement. Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent and must meet Highly Qualified certification requirements,

Qualifications

Must meet Highly Qualified certification requirements.
60 credits of college education or an associate’s degree (transcripts required).
Passing score on ParaPro exam (459+).
Fluency in American Sign Language preferred.
Experience with deaf/hard of hearing children preferred.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

Provide instructional assistance to reinforce students' academic, social, emotional and intellectual skills.
Assist in emergency situations in classroom and with the school nurse.
Participate in in-service activities, workshops, staff and para meetings.
Communicate in ASL with students and staff.
Assist in activities for special needs students including dressing, toileting, and feeding.
Substitute for teachers or other paraprofessionals, as requested.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
