Job summary

Cardiovascular Associates PC in Southfield, MI is seeking a part-time Cardiology Medical Assistant to join our team. You will assist cardiologists and staff with examinations and procedures, perform EKGs, take vitals, and prepare patients. You will document medical histories and coordinate referrals, follow-ups, and scheduling in Athena EHR.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant preferred (CMA or RMA).
• Experience in cardiology or internal medicine is a plus.
• Proficient in performing EKGs and vital sign assessments.

Responsibilities

• Assist cardiologists and clinical staff with examinations and procedures
• Perform EKGs and vital signs for cardiac patients
• Prepare and room patients, document histories and chief complaints
• Manage patient records using Athena EHR
• Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, and follow-up appointments
• Educate patients on medications, post-procedure care, and lifestyle choices
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and cardiology equipment

Responsibilities:

• Assist cardiologists and clinical staff with patient examinations and cardiology procedures
• Perform EKGs and vital sign assessments for cardiac patients
• Prepare and room patients, documenting medical histories and chief complaints accurately
• Manage and maintain patient records using Athena, our electronic health record (EHR) system
• Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, and follow-up appointments
• Educate patients on cardiac medications, post-procedure care, and lifestyle recommendations
• Maintain exam rooms, medical supplies, and cardiology equipment to ensure readiness

Requirements:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) credential preferred
• Prior experience in cardiology, internal medicine, or a specialty clinical setting preferred
• Proficiency in performing EKGs
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and medical office software
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a high-volume specialty practice
• Knowledge of cardiology terminology, medications, and procedures is a plus
