Job summary

Because We Care II Inc in Norfolk, VA is seeking a passionate ASAM Group Facilitator to guide individuals through structured group sessions as part of a comprehensive substance use treatment program.

You will facilitate evidence-based group therapy aligned with ASAM criteria, assess client progress, document session notes, and develop treatment plans. Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care, maintain a safe environment, and provide crisis intervention when needed.

Qualifications

• Experience facilitating substance use disorder (SUD) or behavioral health group sessions.
• Familiarity with ASAM criteria and levels of care for substance use treatment.
• Active licensure or certification in counseling, social work, or a related field (CSAC, LPC, LCSW, or equivalent preferred).
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
• Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to maintain professional boundaries.
• Must pass required background checks in compliance with Virginia state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate evidence-based group therapy and psychoeducational sessions aligned with ASAM criteria.
• Assess client progress and document session notes, treatment updates, and behavioral observations.
• Develop and implement individualized and group treatment plans in accordance with ASAM levels of care.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured group environment conducive to recovery.
• Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and outside agencies to coordinate client care.
• Monitor client compliance with program requirements and report concerns to supervisory staff.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed.
