Job summary

Tenth Revolution Group is seeking an AS400 (IBM i) Programmer / SME with extensive hands-on experience in RPGLE, CL, SQL, and DB2 for i to support and modernize legacy AS400 applications in a manufacturing environment.

This contract role requires 6+ years of IBM i experience, ERP familiarity, and the ability to troubleshoot production issues, along with onsite work three days per week and potential hybrid arrangements.

Qualifications

• 6+ years hands-on experience IBM i environments.
• Proficient in RPGLE, CL, SQL, and DB2 for i.
• Manufacturing ERP experience required; ERP troubleshooting.
• Experience with IBM i security and user administration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support IBM i applications.
• Modernize legacy AS400 apps while building new solutions.
• Provide SQL queries for reporting and data extraction.
• Support manufacturing floor systems and ERP integrations.
• Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with business teams.

Job description

Role: AS400 (IBM i) Programmer / Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Minimum hours per week guaranteed: Minimum 40 hours per week

Contract Length: 3-6 months to start (with potential for extension)

Remote: Preference for local consultants who can work onsite 3 days per week. Open to hybrid arrangements for highly qualified candidates.

Skill Set Needed –

• 6+ years of hands‑on experience developing and supporting IBM i (AS400/iSeries/Power i) environments.
• Strong programming expertise with RPGLE, CL, SQL, and DB2 for i.
• Experience maintaining and modernizing legacy AS400 applications while developing new solutions.
• Strong DB2 database administration and development experience, including database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Manufacturing ERP experience is required.
• Experience supporting ERP systems in a manufacturing environment, including troubleshooting production issues.
• Experience with IBM i user administration, security, permissions, and system maintenance.
• Ability to develop SQL queries for reporting, data extraction, and business analysis.
• Experience supporting manufacturing floor systems and business-critical applications.
• Knowledge of EDI integrations and troubleshooting is highly preferred.
• Nice to have: Java development experience.
• Nice to have: Basic PC, networking, and infrastructure support experience.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively across technical and business teams.
