Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Project Manager with AS/400 Applications to lead complex application delivery, enhancement, and modernization initiatives for Property and Casualty Insurance operations. You will collaborate with developers, QA, BAs, architecture, and insurance stakeholders to deliver reliable enterprise solutions.

The role offers a hybrid work model with three days per week in a Cognizant or client office in Hartford, CT; remote options may be considered based on business needs.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of technology experience managing complex enterprise projects.
• Strong PM experience covering planning, financial management, resource coordination, risk management, stakeholder communication, quality assurance, and release delivery.
• Working knowledge of the AS/400 application ecosystem (SQLRPGLE, RPGLE, Db2 for i, CLP, RPG, AS/400 utilities).
• Experience leading legacy application enhancement, transformation, or modernization in an enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance processes (policy administration, claims, billing).
• Experience applying predictive, Agile, or hybrid delivery methodologies to complex technology programs.
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across distributed teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end planning and delivery of AS/400 application projects, including scope, schedules, resources, budgets, dependencies, and milestones.
• Oversee development, enhancement, and modernization initiatives using AS/400 technologies.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions impacting delivery.
• Translate policy administration, claims, and billing requirements into actionable user stories and specs.
• Manage quality, change, releases, and deployment with acceptance criteria, test strategies, and post-production validation.
• Provide clear project reporting on progress, finances, risks, dependencies, and decisions.
• Ensure activities comply with enterprise architecture, information security, data protection, documentation, and audit requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement by applying lessons learned to AS/400 delivery processes.
