Job summary

SHL Medical in Florida is seeking an experienced artwork manager to oversee end-to-end packaging artwork, ensuring regulatory compliance and accuracy across labels, cartons, and inserts. You will liaise between customers, engineering, QA, supply chain, and suppliers to drive timely, print-ready deliverables.

The role requires strong project coordination, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of GMP/GDP.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare environment.
• Strong working knowledge of regulatory labeling and packaging requirements (FDA, EMA, MHRA, etc.).
• Proficiency with artwork management systems and design tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, WebCenter, or equivalent platforms).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between Customers, Engineering, QA, Supply Chain, and external design and print suppliers.
• Coordinate end-to-end artwork development and change process for packaging components, including labels, cartons, leaflets, and inserts.
• Review incoming artwork files for technical accuracy and completeness (die-line, fonts, barcodes, data matrix codes).
• Manage artwork requests, timelines, and approvals, tracking progress through internal systems and customer platforms.
• Collaborate with suppliers to review and verify artwork for technical feasibility and print readiness.
• Support preparation of final print-ready files and coordinate test prints, color proofs, and supplier approvals.
• Ensure validated and approved packaging designs are archived and maintained as official templates.
• Maintain documentation, version control, and traceability for all artwork files.
• Control artwork versioning and retirement of superseded packaging materials.
• Support change control, deviation, and investigation processes related to artwork changes.
• Participate in audits and provide artwork documentation as required.
• Collaborate during label and packaging development to meet regulatory requirements and supplier capabilities.
• Provide guidance on artwork workflows and best practices to customers.
• Lead recurring customer meetings to review artwork changes and timelines.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for artwork management processes and tools.

Job Overview

This role manages the end-to-end artwork process for pharmaceutical packaging components, serving as the key link between customers, internal teams, and packaging suppliers. It ensures artwork changes are accurate, compliant, and properly controlled through effective review, approval, documentation, and version management. The position also supports packaging development, customer communications, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure timely and compliant delivery of packaging materials

Main Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between Customers, Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), Supply Chain, and external design and print suppliers.
• Coordinate the end-to-end artwork development and change process for packaging components, including labels, cartons, leaflets, and inserts received from customers.
• Review incoming artwork files for technical accuracy and completeness, including die-line alignment, font usage, barcodes, and data matrix codes.
• Manage artwork requests, timelines, and approvals, tracking progress through internal systems and customer platforms (e.g., artwork management systems, QMS tools).
• Collaborate with suppliers to review and verify artwork for technical feasibility and print readiness.
• Support preparation of final print-ready files and coordinate test prints, color proofs, and supplier approvals.
• Ensure that validated and approved packaging designs are archived and maintained as official templates for the creation of market-specific artwork versions.
• Ensure all packaging materials comply with GMP, applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA), and customer-specific standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation, version control, and traceability for all artwork files and related records.
• Control artwork versioning and closely monitor the retirement and obsolescence of superseded packaging materials.
• Support change control, deviation, and investigation processes related to artwork changes.
• Participate in internal and external audits and provide artwork documentation and traceability as required.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Customers, and Packaging Suppliers during the label and packaging development phase to define and align on packaging formats and templates that meet regulatory requirements while considering CMO and supplier process capabilities.
• Provide guidance and support to new and existing customers regarding artwork workflows, requirements, and best practices.
• Lead recurring customer meetings to review new and ongoing artwork changes, discuss timelines, and track open action items.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to artwork management processes, tools, and workflows.

Skills and Qualification

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare environment; CMO experience is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of regulatory labeling and packaging requirements (FDA, EMA, MHRA, etc.).
• Proficiency with artwork management systems and design tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, WebCenter, or equivalent platforms).
• Solid understanding of GMP, GDP, and packaging/labeling compliance.
• Excellent project coordination, organizational, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel.
• Proven experience working in a fast-paced, customer-driven, and highly regulated environment.
