Job summary

UCLA Extension, in partnership with the Visual and Performing Arts Education Program (VAPAE) at UCLA, seeks an Arts Education Instructor to lead Foundations of Teaching Artistry & CTE, the first course in a new six-course credential sequence. This is a limited 10-week contract for a hybrid in-person/online course beginning September 23, 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience or familiarity with arts education in K-12 settings.
• Ability to design and facilitate arts-based learning experiences.
• Strong understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy and equity-centered practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly seminar sessions (in-person and via Zoom) delivering arts-education content.
• Guide candidates through lesson design and facilitation of original arts-based K-12 experiences.
• Coordinate with guest instructors to integrate credential content with arts education.
• Facilitate weekly reflective practice and connect course content to field placements.
• Grade weekly assignments and capstone projects with constructive feedback.
• Maintain the course site, post readings, and track attendance and grading.
