Job summary

Grand Central Bakery in Seattle is seeking a Driver 1 to deliver artisan bread to customers and neighborhood cafés safely and efficiently. The driver will become proficient across multiple routes, demonstrate strong product knowledge, and uphold the company’s 3 Steps to Great Service.

The role requires early starts (2 AM), working Wednesday through Sunday, and flexibility for weekends. You will report to the Delivery Manager and work with a team to ensure accurate packing, on-time deliveries,

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English required.
• Maintains a valid Food Handler's Card and follows health guidelines.
• Regular attendance and on-time presence.
• Must have basic math skills (add/subtract/multiply).
• Professional driving experience preferred.
• Requires valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license with 5 years’ experience and acceptable driving record.
• Must pass company driving test and Smith System training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver artisan bread to customers and cafés safely and on time.
• Operate vehicle safely and follow traffic laws using Smith System principles.
• Pack products accurately and handle invoices and money carefully.
• Know and describe Grand Central Bakery bread products and variations.
• Conduct quality checks and provide feedback on product quality.
• Keep delivery area and vehicle clean and organized for next shift.
• Address customer questions or complaints and escalate when needed.
• Support sales by anticipating customer needs and suggesting additional products.
