Job summary

WisEngineering, LLC is seeking an experienced Large Caliber / Artillery Training Instructor to support DoD programs at Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, NJ. The role requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance, with on-site work and up to 50% travel.

Responsibilities include delivering classroom and field instruction on 105mm and 155mm systems, live-fire supervision, and fire direction/targeting using AFATDS and related tools.

Qualifications

  • Proven background delivering technical/military instruction in classroom or field settings.
  • Hands-on operational knowledge of 105mm and 155mm artillery systems and precision-guided munitions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AFATDS for fire support planning and execution.
  • Hands-on experience with profiling/weather tools and digital imagery systems.

  • Deliver classroom and practical field instruction to military, government, contractor, and foreign national personnel.
  • Lead training on currently fielded artillery systems and fuzing, propellants, and projectiles.
  • Oversee live-fire supervision with strict safety protocols.
  • Teach and operate manual and automated fire direction, including system integrations.
  • Deliver instruction on targeting, CDE, and weaponeering.

Job description

WisEngineering, LLC is currently interviewing candidates for an immediate or near term position with our company in support of ongoingDepartment of Defense programs at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, NJ. Candidate must be US Citizenwith the ability to obtain a security clearance. Successful candidate will be a direct (W2) employee of WisEngineering.

Large Caliber / Artillery Training Instructor

Position Overview

Provide subject matter expertise, classroom/hands-on instruction, and live-fire supervision for U.S. towed/self-propelled artillery systems, precision-guided munitions, and fire control systems. Supports DEVCOM-AC and PME AS&A in training program development, New Equipment Training (NET), and product integration.

Security & General Requirements
  • Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance required.
  • Legal/Physical Ability: Must be legally and physically eligible to handle weapons, energetic materials, and munitions.
  • Travel: Willing and able to travel up to 50% (CONUS and OCONUS).
  • Work Environment: Able to operate in extreme environments (high altitude, desert heat, arctic cold, rough terrain) and work long/irregular hours, including shift work and combat zones.
  • Range Operations: Willing and able to supervise live-fire operations on U.S., foreign military, and contractor installations.
Key Responsibilities & Highlights
  • Instruction & Training Delivery: Deliver classroom and practical field instruction (in-person and remote) to U.S. military, government, contractor, and foreign national personnel.
  • Artillery Systems Operations: Lead training on currently fielded 105mm and 155mm towed and self-propelled cannons, manual/digital fire control systems, fuzes, propellants, projectiles, and precision-guided munitions.
  • Live-Fire Supervision: Oversee and assist military crews during live-fire training exercises, maintaining strict safety protocols.
  • Fire Direction & Support: Teach and operate manual and automated cannon fire direction, including troubleshooting voice and digital system integrations.
  • Targeting & Precision Operations: Deliver instruction on precision targeting, Collateral Damage Estimation (CDE), and weaponeering.
  • Program & Product Support: Provide operator-level insight to engineering teams supporting new product development, training materials, and fuze-setting/fire control systems (e.g., AXS implementation).
Required Skills & Technical Experience
  • Instructional Experience: Proven background delivering technical/military instruction via both in-person and remote methods.
  • Artillery Subject Matter Expertise: Hands-on operational knowledge of 105mm and 155mm towed and self-propelled artillery systems and precision-guided munitions.
  • Command & Control Systems: Demonstrated proficiency with the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) for fire support planning and execution.
  • Targeting & Fire Direction Tools: Hands-on experience with:
    • Profiler Meteorological System
    • Digital Imagery Exploitation Engine (DIEE v2.0)
    • Precision fuze-setting tools and electronic munition interfaces
  • Teamwork: Strong ability to operate effectively within joint government-contractor teams.
