Akina, Inc. is hiring an Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer 3 to support the VISTA project within the MT&E team, along with related AI/ML efforts. In this onsite role in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, you will help design, build, test, and productize AI and machine learning solutions, including deployment and evaluation against customer requirements.
The work spans end-to-end model development, from selecting data sets and applying statistical analysis to running ML algorithms and improving models based on results. You will also support scalable implementation across training, retraining, deployment, scheduling, monitoring, and iterative refinement driven by user and system feedback.
Responsibilities
- Design, create, test, and productize AI/ML algorithms to address business challenges.
- Develop AI/ML models that learn and generate predictions according to business logic defined to meet customer requirements.
- Apply expertise across model architecture, data pipeline interaction, and metrics, including interpretation and presentation.
- Demonstrate familiarity with foundational concepts in application development, infrastructure management, data engineering, and data governance.
- Design scalable solutions for optimal performance by managing training, retraining, deployment, scheduling, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
- Support geographically diverse teams and serve as a primary point of contact for AI-related matters.
- Lead or contribute to software engineering and AI/ML model test and evaluation capabilities.
- Select appropriate data sets and perform statistical analysis.
- Run machine learning algorithms and use outcomes to improve models.
- Train and retrain systems when needed, and apply standard test and evaluation protocols.
- Provide system integration oversight and oversee iterative test and evaluation to meet verification and validation requirements.
- Research and implement a broad range of AI/ML algorithms and tools.
- Design or select data and knowledge representation methods, and recognize software architecture, data modeling, and data structures.
- Transform and convert data science prototypes into scalable solutions.
- Verify data and model output quality, including identifying data distribution differences that impact performance.
- Develop test and evaluation criteria that include explainability and resiliency.
- Apply deep understanding of AI logic, semantics, ontologies, and knowledge representation.
- Design, evaluate, and productize AI/ML models across commercial cloud-based architectures, aligned to customer requirements.
- Research, experiment with, and implement suitable ML algorithms and tools, and broaden AI/ML frameworks and machine learning libraries.
Requirements
- Meets Standard AIML3 labor category requirements.
- 10 years experience deploying machine learning algorithms is required.
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in advanced math, artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, or deep learning from an accredited college or university is required.
- Alternatively, 7 additional years of machine learning experience with a relevant Bachelor's degree may be substituted for a Master's degree.
