Request Technology, LLC is seeking an Associate Principal, Artificial Intelligence Engineering / Data Engineer to join our Chicago team. The role focuses on AI research, data engineering, and building scalable LLM-powered applications using Python, SQL, cloud infrastructure, and API design.

You will design agent orchestration and MCP-based integrations, work with Claude/Anthropic tools, and help create a robust knowledge substrate from corporate data sources like ServiceNow and JIRA to empower

Qualifications

• Strong Python proficiency and SQL fundamentals.
• Experience building LLM-powered applications or agentic systems.
• Knowledge of AI risk areas (prompt injections, validation, hallucinations, privacy).
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS preferred) with Docker, CI/CD.
• Experience with Claude or Anthropic API is a plus.
• Familiarity with agent orchestration or Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Production experience with AI/LLM systems at scale is a plus.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform is a plus.
• Background in financial services or regulated industries is a plus.
• Exposure to AI security practices (red-teaming or adversarial testing).
• Data engineering experience for AI infrastructure work is a plus.

Associate Principal, Artificial Intelligence Engineering / Data Engineer

LOCATION: CHICAGO, IL

HYBIRD 3 DAYS ONSITE

• AI research and engineering. You will need strong python, SQL, API, cloud infrastructure. Claude, anthropic api or claude AI console. Designing agent orchestration or model context protocol based integrations ai applications and/or infrastructure.
• Data engineering (currently highest preference): ETL/ELT, data pipelines — Needs to build a "knowledge substrate" to make corporate data (ServiceNow, JIRA, SaaS apps) consumable by AI models

Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

• Required: Strong Python; proficient SQL; solid distributed systems and API design fundamentals
• Required: Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications or agentic systems
• Required: Working knowledge of AI-specific risk areas (prompt injection, output validation, hallucination mitigation, data privacy), or demonstrated ability to build this expertise quickly
• Required: Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS preferred); comfort with Docker, CI/CD, and containerization fundamentals
• Preferred: Direct experience with Claude, the Anthropic API, or Claude.ai/Console
• Preferred: Experience designing agent orchestration or Model Context Protocol (MCP)-based integrations
• Preferred: Production experience operating LLM-powered applications or agentic systems at scale
• Preferred: Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
• Preferred: Background in financial services, derivatives, or other regulated industries
• Preferred: Exposure to AI security practices such as red-teaming or adversarial testing of model inputs and outputs
• Preferred: Data engineering experience (pipelines, data modeling), particularly for candidates interested in AI infrastructure work

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's preferred
• 4-7 years of software engineering experience, with production AI/LLM systems experience preferred
