Job summary

St. Mary of the Mills School in Laurel, MD is seeking a part-time Art Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The role reports to the Principal with hours from 7:45am to 3:15pm and an hourly rate of $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.

The teacher will plan lessons aligned with Archdiocese of Washington Academic and Religious Standards, assess students, manage the classroom, and support a Catholic learning environment in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Current teacher certification in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC (candidates have 3 years from hire to earn their certification).
• Knowledge of child development and supervision.
• Experience teaching in an elementary school setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons that align with Archdiocese of Washington Academic and Religious Standards.
• Utilize assessment data to differentiate instruction and inform teaching.
• Deliver a balanced program of instruction including direct and guided instruction and hands-on activities.
• Maintain classroom procedures, expectations, and a positive learning environment.
• Foster Catholic identity and lead prayer and religious activities as applicable.
• Communicate with parents and administration about student progress and assignments.
• Perform non-instructional duties and participate in faculty meetings.
