Job summary

Qualifications

• NYS Certification as an Art Teacher is required.
• Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for art instruction.
• Knowledge of art techniques including crafts, drawing, painting, lettering, design, art history, and three-dimensional art for secondary pupils.
• Provides instruction to develop aesthetic concepts and appreciation and ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
• Assesses and reports student progress; maintains records and communicates with parents and administration.
• Plans and presents art displays and exhibitions to showcase students' work.
