BASIC OBJECTIVES This is a professional position for a certified art teacher who is responsible for the instruction ofelementary and secondary students through the teaching of visual arts content, art productionskills, the historical and cultural significance, and understanding of visual arts as an art form.

  • 1. Prepares lesson objectives and outline of study following district curriculumguidelines.
  • 2. Lectures, demonstrates, selects appropriate materials, and uses visuals and audiovisual teaching aides to present subject matter to class.
  • 3. Maintains portfolio of student artwork and prepares and administers assessments tomeasure students' progress, records results, issues reports to inform parents ofprogress, and assigns final grades.
  • 4. Assigns lessons and assesses students' progress.
  • 5. Maintains attendance and grade records as required by school.
  • 6. Participates in school, community, district, state, and national exhibitions andcontests.
  • 7. Participates in faculty and professional meetings and inservice classes.
  • 8. Performs related work as required or as assigned by the supervising administrator orhis/her designee.
  • 9. Provides opportunity for students to visit museum/gallery artist studios as a part oftheir learning experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This is medium work which requires the following physical activities: climbing, balancing,bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing,walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions,talking, hearing and visual acuity. The worker is exposed to hazards, atmosphericconditions and oils. The work is performed indoors and outdoors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS As specified in the State Statutes.

Starting Teacher Salary: $53,159.00*

*(includes 6% Referendum Retirement Accruing Supplement of $3,009)

New hires may be eligible to receive credit for verified years of experience, which can enhance their starting salary.
