Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools in Ann Arbor, MI seeks an Elementary Teacher with an endorsement in Visual Arts to join our district. The successful candidate will teach the district curriculum, develop lessons, and provide small group instruction.

This full-time, on-site role requires regular attendance and collaboration with staff to support student growth. Prior elementary teaching experience and NCLB Highly Qualified status are preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate with Visual Arts endorsement (LQ or LX) K-12.
• Experience working with early elementary students.
• Must show evidence of Highly Qualified status as defined by NCLB during interview.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Possess a valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Visual Arts (LQ or LX) K-12.
• Possess work experience with early elementary children.
• Must submit evidence at time of interview of highly qualified status as defined through NCLB.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach district approved curriculum.
• Develop lessons and instructional material to provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt to the curriculum needs of each pupil.
• Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
• Evaluate pupil's academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress report.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
• This is a full time position, requiring regular reliable and predictable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions in group settings.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
• Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
