An established community center is looking for passionate clay instructors to join their ceramics team. This part-time role involves teaching handbuilding and wheel throwing techniques to teens and adults, fostering creativity and independence in students. Join our enthusiastic ceramics team at the Cary Arts Center! We seek energetic clay instructors to teach teens (10-15) and adults (16 & up) handbuilding, wheel throwing, and glazing techniques from beginner to advanced levels. Responsibilities include instructing students on safety, processes, and techniques to build their independence. Instructors should be available some weekdays between 9am-5pm or evenings between 6-9:30pm, along with several consecutive Saturdays (9am-5pm) or Sundays (1:15pm-5:30pm).
This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours weekly, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.
Must be skilled in handbuilding and wheel throwing, with knowledge of cone 6 and cone 10 glazes, different clay and glaze types, and safety policies. Ability to teach various skill levels and ages, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to establish effective working relationships are essential. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Art with a ceramics focus, at least 3 years of clay experience, and 1 year of group teaching experience with teens and adults.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 25 pounds, stand for extended periods, bend, and reach.
