Job summary

Martha's Vineyard Magazine is seeking an experienced graphic designer for a temporary role on Martha’s Vineyard. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong publication design, typography, and page layout capabilities, plus the ability to manage freelancers and coordinate with editors and printers.

Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat is essential, with experience in photo research, selection, and final print-ready files.

Job description

• Assigning, directing, and managing freelance photographers and illustrators
• Photography and art research, selection, and photo editing
• Preparing final page-layout files for print production

Requirements

• Strong background in publication design and typography
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with editors, production designers, and printers
• Excellent communication skills when working with photographers and illustrators
• Ability to meet deadlines, and set effective deadlines for contributors

This is a temporary, contract-based position. Training sessions to begin in October/November, with a start date in late January. Potential to continue in other graphic design roles within the company after set term. Strong preference will be given to candidates who are based on Martha’s Vineyard.
