Job summary

Western Colorado University’s School of the Arts invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Art and Design on the Gunnison campus.

The role emphasizes student-centered teaching, professional preparation, and interdisciplinary education, with a 24-credit annual load and a mix of introductory and advanced courses across drawing, design, sculpture, digital design, and magazine production.

Qualifications

• MFA or PhD in Art, Graphic Design, or closely related field; ABD would also be considered.
• Commitment to undergraduate education and excellence in teaching.
• Ability to teach online and hybrid courses; use technology in instruction.
• Collegiality and professional flexibility in a teaching environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Art and Design courses (intro and advanced: Drawing, 2D/3D Design, Sculpture, Digital Design, Magazine Production).
• Teach introductory courses and align with departmental needs.
• Engage students in high-impact practices (internships, research, community-based learning).
• Contribute to interdisciplinary curriculum and participate in general education programs.
