City of Richmond seeks an Arson Investigator/Inspector with strong verbal and written communication and excellent interpersonal skills to serve the public.
Responsibilities include conducting fire and criminal investigations, inspections for life safety, and assisting with plan reviews for code compliance. The role may require on-call availability and adherence to safety and background requirements.

The Investigator / Inspector position requires someone who possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are needed to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner, including difficult and irate persons. Must work well with fellow employees. Conducts fire investigations, criminal investigations, fire and life safety inspections, and educational programs on related safety. The Investigator / Inspector will also conduct building inspections and other inspections necessary to maintain the public's general health, safety, and welfare, and assist the Fire Marshal with plan reviews for code compliance. This position is subject to being "On-Call".
