Brooklyn Defender Services (BDS) is seeking an Arraignment Paralegal to join the Criminal Defense Practice in the Brooklyn office. The role supports arraignment court operations, coordinates paperwork, and helps attorneys interview clients.

This is a full-time, non-exempt salaried position with evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, based in Brooklyn Criminal Court and BDS offices. The Arraignment Paralegal collaborates with attorneys, social workers, and staff to ensure cases are properly

• Support clients and families during arraignment.

Responsibilities

• Based in court during arraignment shifts, assisting multiple attorneys.
• Prepare clients for interviews and ensure proper documentation.
• Collect paperwork, organize files, and enter cases into the case-management system.
• Create paper files for new clients and check for conflicts of interest.
• Assist attorneys with case lookup and data entry; provide carfare for clients released.
