Job Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in Primary Care provides comprehensive, patient-centered medical care to individuals of all ages. This role involves diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, promoting preventive healthcare, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care for Primary Care patients in an ambulatory environment, including evaluations, goal setting, care plan implementation, medication prescribing, patient education, and progress monitoring.
- Collaborate with other members of the patient care team to formulate total care plans.
- Perform coverage for primary care or outpatient providers who are unavailable (vacation, CME, illness, FMLA, schedule openings, etc.), including in‑basket and urgent message coverage.
- Identify, evaluate, and address disease prevention and health promotion issues for the population.
- Obtain accurate medical histories and perform physical exams; record findings.
- Meet or exceed quality care standards, contribute to quality improvement projects, and strive for high patient satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records using a computerized system and voice recognition technology, with appropriate consent.
- Work closely with other departments in patient care as needed and maintain professional skills through research and continuing education.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state, and local laws.
- Maintain flexibility regarding day‑to‑day work location and patient population.
- Participate in resolution of patient and provider complaints and enhance satisfaction.
- Participate in community outreach activities as requested by the District.
- Supervise students, residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants as required.
Required Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice.
- OR Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or Doctorate in Physician Assistant studies.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an ARNP or PA (highly preferred).
Required Licenses, Certifications & Registrations
- Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
- OR Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Registered Nurse.
- OR Active and unrestricted Washington State License as a Physician Assistant.
- Active WA DEA.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
